Since the beginning, Lumen Center has been able to draw inspiration and creative strength from international experiences and collaborations.

Founded in 1976 in La Fare les Oliviers under the artistic direction of Gilles Derain, LUMEN CENTER has a rich and fascinating history in the world of design and lighting. Derain, a prominent exponent of contemporary French design and expert of the UAM (Union des Artistes Modernes), inherited his stylistic and design approach from the teachings of Jacques Adnet and the study of international modernism.

The company has continued to distinguish itself internationally with initiatives such as experiments on synaesthesia between light, colour and sound, the use of alternative light sources such as OLEDs and studies on the interaction between light and human metabolism. Over the years LUMEN CENTER has been the sponsor of the lighting of the food court of the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2015 and to date contributes to the lighting of important works of art at the Veneranda Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, demonstrating its commitment to supporting important cultural and artistic projects.
