Vanity Lighting

Every morning, regardless of the time you spend, you find yourself in front of a vanity mirror. It's our personal prep station, getting us ready to face the world with confidence.

Have you ever paused and wondered why that meticulously drawn eyeliner went awry? Or why you missed that spot during your shave? Good news, it's not you – it's the lighting.

To truly see ourselves and perfect every detail, the lighting needs to be spot-on. And the fundamental rule of vanity lighting? It's all about location…

Location Matters

Direct light from above or behind casts unflattering shadows, making the intricate tasks challenging. While backlighting might elevate the room’s ambiance, it falls short for practical vanity use.

The goal? Ideally, lighting that's directly in front of you. By strategically placing lights on, beside, or around the mirror, you're ensuring an even distribution of light on your face, casting no shadows.

But what happens when lighting in front isn’t possible? Fret not. Sometimes, architectural or design constraints mean we can't have lights in front. It's not the end of the world. Our adept lighting designers can artfully position lighting above or elsewhere to still deliver efficient, complimentary lighting. The key is to work with design experts who understand the nuances of vanity lighting.

Here are some key points to remember when selecting your vanity light fitting:
  1. Light Dispersion: Soft and evenly distributed light is the goal. It flatters and illuminates without overwhelming.
  2. Quality of Light: A high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) is paramount. This ensures you see colours as they truly are.
  3. Power Access: A common oversight! If you're renovating or designing, plan ahead. Positioning your lighting in a fully tiled space can be tricky.
  4. Style of Fitting: Finally, aesthetics matter. Your lighting should harmonise with the room. Consider designs from our vanity light selection here.
Just as we invest time in getting ready in the morning, we should invest thought in our vanity lighting.
